Eligible Applicants

Applicants must be KU students and a Direct Exchange Scholar must maintain KU graduate student status during the year of the scholarship. Preference will be given to applicants who are enrolled or will be enrolled in KU graduate programs as degree seeking students. GDX scholarships are available to graduating KU seniors and graduate students only.

Under the terms of each reciprocal agreement, a graduate student of the University of Kansas studies at one of the European universities listed above during the academic year while a European graduate student attends the University of Kansas. Direct Exchange Scholars receive tuition and monthly stipends for room and board and additional fees. Travel and other personal expenses must be covered by personal funds.

Application Process

Competition for this scholarship opens in April and closes in mid-September of the year prior to the award. For example, competition for the 2002-2003 school year is held from April to September of 2001. Each applicant must submit a completed application by the announced deadline (September 2001). Prospective candidates will also be interviewed as part of the application process. Interviews are conducted in October by members of the Campus Fulbright/Graduate Direct Exchange Committee. Scholarships for nominees selected by the committee are not official until the nominee has been accepted by the host university.
